Adding More Voices

I watch the show Supernatural, and have loved it in all its campy cheesiness since it started. I tried to get Ian to watch it, because I figured he’d relate to one of the characters (who likes older music and hates new technology). He watched it once, and said it was ok, which, coming from him, was pretty high praise for a TV show. Everything I’ve heard and seen about the stars, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki has made me believe that they’re good people. This last week, I learned that Jared is adding his voice to the conversation about depression, addiction, mental illness, and suicide.

He has created a campaign to raise money for To Write Love On Her Arms, “a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.” – That is taken from their mission statement.

Jared created this campaign because he had a friend who lost his battle with depression.

This problem touches everyone, and I am sad that anyone else has to deal with it, but glad that it seems that the people who are dealing with it are becoming more vocal. The more we talk, the more we affect. So keep talking.
